According to Wikipedia Insanity, madness, and craziness are terms that describe a spectrum of individual and group behaviors that are characterized by certain abnormal mental or behavioral patterns. Insanity can be manifest as violations of societal norms, including a person or persons becoming a danger to themselves or to other people. According to some people the definition of madness (insanity) is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results

Most human beings are forever seeking solace, peace, control, happiness (add whatever desire you seek here) that have always been eternally unsatisfiable and unachievable thus insanity. It is correct to claim that madness isn’t the exception it’s the norm. Men are so automatically mad, that not to be mad would lead to another form of madness.  A child running around with an imaginary friend is considered to be normal but for an adult it’s called insanity, which proves that expectations of sanity change as you age. General madness is the term used to describe this phenomena. As we grow we can’t suddenly know perfect sanity but we somewhat suddenly are expected to behave like we do. Therefore we sit alone in the universe’s chaos trying to narrow the ocean of time and space into a tiny little canal that we can fathom.

Society expects you to act sane from when you wake up, in each interaction and in every single facet of your day-to-day activities, when such a world expects us to be sane this is one instance of the world’s insanity. It does not lie within any of our responsibilities to be completely sane. There exists many reasons why we must lack a completely even keel. We have complex histories, we are heading to the final disaster, we are helpless to shattering losses; love will never go entirely well (everyone who has ever tried can attest to this), the gap between our hopes and our realities will be vast. You literally can’t control everything that happens to you but you can control how you react to situations however some situations vary and our insanity takes over, at the end of the day we are just animals prone to animal like behaviors. There’s an innocent child that still exists in us it’s rather stupid but is deprived of a chance to express some of this foolishness, thus this child never fully to grieve its death. So we must be forgiving and understanding of ourselves and others as once in a while the child breaks out to blow steam. The world is anything and nothing at the same time, it’s never that serious.

Carl Jung advises us to be silent and listen, have you recognized your madness and do you admit it? Have you noticed that all your foundations are completely mired in madness?  You wanted to accept everything, so accept madness too because whether you like it or not you are crazy in one way or another.

In life’s situations, what we ought to aim for is not sanity, but a wise, well-informed and confident relationship to our various insanities, or what we might call ‘sane insanity.’ The sane insane vary from the merely insane by virtue of the honest and precise understanding they have on what is not entirely right with them. They might not be absolutely balanced, but they don’t have an extra stupidity of insisting that they are normal. They confess with good grace – and no particular loss of self-respect – that of course they are somewhat peculiar at uncountable of points. They don’t hide from us whatever they get up to in the night, in their sad moments, when anxiety strikes, or through occurrences of envy. They can – at their best – be sarcastically funny about the tragedy of being human.

They tell you their fears, doubts, longings, desires and habits that don’t fit the story we like to tell ourselves about sanity. They don’t make prepared confessions to get themselves out of trouble or being weird. They simply understand the difficultness of expecting to be reasonable constantly. They honestly tell others of what being around them might involve – and apologize quickly for their shortcomings as soon as they have expressed themselves. They offer their friends a precise maps to their craziness, which is the most generous thing one can do to anyone who has to stomach us. The sane-insane among us are not a special category of the mentally unwell: they represent the most evolved possibility for a mature human being.

There are degrees of madness and the madder you are the more obvious it will be to others. Most of my life I have hidden my madness within myself but it is there – Charles Bukowski.

Let the light of your madness shine and it will suddenly dawn on you. Madness is not to be frowned upon, despised and feared but instead you should give it life be glad you can recognize it, for you will thus avoid becoming a victim. Madness is a special form of the spirit and clings to all teachings and philosophies, but even more to daily life, since life itself is full of craziness and at bottom utterly illogical. Man strives towards reason only so that he can make rules for himself. Life itself has no rules. That is its mystery and its unknown law. What you call knowledge is an attempt to impose something comprehensive on life.
