Authors note: below are some African superstitions I’ve heard while growing up, I know its stupid but I still believe some of them.

A dog howls

Instead of barking

The village owner

Is at deaths door

My palms are itchy

I melt with joy

Since I shall get money

An owl hoots

Near a homestead

Then someone will go to be with the ancestors

A hen crows

Then it must be killed

Bad omen,

For hens don’t crow

At the ocean

Then the water calls your name

Don’t answer

For if you do

That’s the last we will see of you.
