Hello and welcome to the mental health minute today we’ll be looking at the benefits of sleep.

Some of us have bad sleep habits, like having an irregular sleep schedule, or consuming too much caffeine or alcohol, can interfere with your sleep quality. I admit to consuming too much caffeine before bed and waking up feeling cranky.

Quality sleep of about 6-8 hours helps regulate the stress hormone Cortisol, released by adrenal glands.

Here are some tips for quality sleep.

  • create a bedtime ritual to cease all thoughts.
  • write what is stressing you and leave it for tomorrow
  • avoid consuming too much caffeine and alcohol
  • avoid binging be it food or television
  • reduce screen time

So sleep well today wherever it is that you are reading this from. Remember there’s no wealth without mental health.
