Hello and welcome to today’s post about mental health. We’ll be looking at traits that mentally strong people have that you should adopt in your life.

We are living in strange times indeed. The world nearly came to standstill due to COVID 19 or SARS COV 2 for the intellects. However, life goes on, although a little bit differently. Early days when the as the virus was still slowly spreading countries worldwide put up safety measures to curb the spread of the virus. The terms lock-down, isolation, quarantine and sanitize have become an everyday utterance. The lock down has brought about many issue in the society. Some places have seen reduced rates of crime and others an increase in mental health issues and domestic violence.

Due to the fact that governments can’t reach and help everybody we are left to care and help each other. However certain hospitals such as Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) do offer free psychotherapy services  I’ve been trying to read and spread the information I get about these issues to help someone out there who might be going through a hard time. Okay now that that’s out of the way lets dive in and see what we can learn today:

 

 Eight traits of mentally strong people you should adopt.


1. THEY DON’T DWELL ON MISTAKES

Mentally strong individuals would rather take action even if it ends up being a mistake. They do not keep blaming themselves over and over again and instead use the mistake as motivation to do better next time.

2. DRAMA-FREE

They’re known for aiding to calm conflicts, not for making them.

3. THEY BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES

They identify that they are able to achieve whatever they set their mind to do. They are prepared to hustle and do everything it takes to complete a task.

4.THEY EXERCISE OFTEN

Exercise has been scientifically proven to release some feel good hormones. Mentally strong people keep their body and mind in shape. This is the key to their success, and they hardly let anything affect their routines.

5. THEY SLEEP WELL

Lack of good quality sleep affects an individual’s capability to think and make good decisions, while having adverse effects on body’s immune systems. Mentally strong individuals consider adequate sleep as a therapeutic exercise that leaves them feeling rejuvenated and fresh.

6. THEY’RE EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT.

You can’t be mentally tough minus the capability to fully understand and bear strong negative emotions and do something creative with them. Occasions that test your mental toughness are ultimately testing your emotional intelligence (EQ).

7. THEY’RE CONFIDENT.

8. THEY EMBRACE FAILURE…

Mentally tough individuals embrace failure as they are fully aware that the road to victory is paved with it. No individual has ever experienced true success without first embracing disappointment.

Parting shot/Wise words

It matters not what actions you pick if you lack the perseverance to turn the action into a habit. Unfortunately, when things get hard, most people choose an easier route. A mentally strong person will not take the easier route once things get difficult instead that’s when they put their best foot forward. You can decide on being mentally strong. It only takes willpower and repetition of selected activities to form the habit. All that’s left is to choose the right habits, and they might as well be ones the mentally strong use.
